I was able to work through projects and tasks on my own while also being given guidance on how to tackle a problem.
Ricky first heard about Tidy through Aqeel, who had interned at the company before becoming full-time.
The most interesting project Ricky worked on was a new Photo CaptureWidget feature. He was given the project directly by Kevin and got to work directly with clients to develop the feature with support from the team.
Ricky was most surprised by the amount of agency he was given to complete any task.
“I was able to work through projects and tasks on my own while also being given guidance on how to tackle a problem.”
The most memorable part of his internship was surviving the daily intern Wordle forfeit challenges.
Ricky describes his internship as:
Supportive: I felt like I could be out of my comfort zone and face challenges while being able to learn from them.
Flexible: I was able to work at my own pace.
Rapid: I quickly had to learn Angular and other new skills as our products improved.
Ricky’s advice for future interns is:
“Ask lots of questions, even to yourself. Even if the answers or your approach are wrong, you still involved your thought process in the decision.”
He is most excited to continue developing all of his skills.
“Being able to just absorb and learn even skills outside of my role.”
For the year ahead, Ricky is most looking forward to continuing to contribute to more impactful projects.
“I am excited to see work that I’ve done have a tangible value in Tidy.”
