When receiving a Purchase Order the Material Assignment can be defaulted to stock (instead of assigning to a Project). To do this, go to Company Settings > Sales & Purchases. Under Purchase Orders, Require Assignment must be unticked, then you will have the option to tick Order to Stock by Default.
